Best hot springs in Wyoming

Wyoming's hot springs gather in three towns. In Thermopolis, Hot Springs State Park has a free state bath house and a privately run pool complex on the same mineral spring, and an RV park north of town is built around a large mineral pool. In Saratoga, a free town pool sits beside a resort with its own mineral pools. South of Jackson, Astoria Hot Springs Park fills its pools from natural hot springs along the Snake River. This page gathers every open spring in the state, grouped by kind.

Frequently asked

The most common questions about soaking in Wyoming — free pools, day visits, Thermopolis and places left off this page.

Are there free hot springs in Wyoming?

Yes. Hobo Pool and Wyoming State Bath House (Hot Springs State Park) charge nothing to soak. Free entry at the State Bath House dates to the 1896 treaty under which the Shoshone and Arapaho ceded the springs; Hobo Pool is owned by the Town of Saratoga and open around the clock.

Where can I buy a day pass in Wyoming?

Astoria Hot Springs Park, Hellie's Tepee Pools and Fountain of Youth RV Park sell soaks to visitors who are not staying overnight. At Saratoga Hot Springs Resort the pools are for overnight guests and pass holders, but spa treatments include day use of the pools. Each card gives prices where they are published.

What is there to do in Thermopolis?

3 of the 6 places on this page are in Thermopolis: Wyoming State Bath House (Hot Springs State Park), Hellie's Tepee Pools and Fountain of Youth RV Park. The State Bath House and the Tepee pools sit in Hot Springs State Park and draw on its mineral hot spring; the park also has walking trails and a bison herd. Fountain of Youth, two miles north of town, fills its pool from a well drilled in 1918.

Why are some well-known springs missing?

This page lists only springs we could confirm as open for soaking. Star Plunge in Thermopolis has been closed since January 2025. Granite Hot Springs near Jackson is left off until its season can be confirmed with the Forest Service. Soaking in Yellowstone’s thermal features is not allowed.
